Here are some tips and tricks that Mike and I have used - try some yourself!

To get that perfect shot - perfectly sharp - use a TRIPOD! I know they can be a pain but they make the difference between a good shot and a great shot.

Love to take flower pictures but there is nothing blooming in your neighbourhood - try BUYING them - you get to pick the best blooms and exactly the colours and varities you like - sometimes the answer is just to simple.

Love the look of rain on leaves or flowers but don't want to wait for the rain - carry a small spray bottle with you - presto chango - instant raindrops.

Tired of having peoples eyes closed when taking formal group pictures - try this trick - it works wonders.  As soon as everyone is posed - have them all close their eyes - then on the count of three - say open your eyes - wait one more count and then click the shutter - its amazing how great this works!

Want to shoot some fireworks but don't know how - here are the easiest steps to taking great firework pictures.  The first thing you need is a tripod - without it you won't get the kind of shots you want.  Second a cable release makes life so much easier - you can shoot without one but for the small investment go buy one - you will be glad you did.  Third shoot in full manual - here are the settings we have found to work well.  Set the shutter speed to 4 seconds and the aperture to f/11.  Try a test shot.  Make ajdustmenst as needed.  If your camera has a bulb setting and you have a shutter release simply hold the shutter button down when the rocket bursts, then release when the light trails start to fade.  Works like a charm.

Till next time
